24 08 2008 - Dodd (Skiddaw) with Joe

We parked at the Mirehouse and followed the road that climbs along the left bank of Skill Beck towards Long Doors. The path then swings around the back of the fell and immediately gives splendid views in the direction of Keswick and the North Western Fells. Unlike in Wainwright's day the top of the fell is now almost completely free of trees and the summit is no longer a place to 'flee from' but somewhere to linger and enjoy.
