The day started with a heavy and prolonged downpour but thankfully we got through the walk without any further rainfall. The scramble up past Rib Bell and the scramble down to Dore Head were both difficult enough without the added problems that more rain would have brought. I lost a pair of reading glasses whilst negotiating Stirrup Crag on my backside but we managed to finish the walk in time to catch a couple of pints and most of the England v Switzerland game at the Strands Hotel in Nether Wasdale. |
Clouds over Yewbarrow and Great Gable
Heading for Bell Rib
Wastwater and the Screes
The view down to Wastwater
Paul at the summit
Seatallan from the summit
Scafell crowned with clouds
Kirk fell and Great Gable
Pillar also in clouds
Going down Stirrup Crag to Dore Head
And looking back up to Stirrup Crag
The Scafells still in cloud at the end of the walk
