    25 07 2005 - Bowscale Fell with Joe

We took the path that starts just behind the Mill Inn in Mungrisdale and climbs up the southern side of the Tongue to the saddle between Bannerdale Crags and Bowscale Fell. Wainwright describes this route as the easiest route to any summit over 2000' in Lakeland. It may be easy but Joe still managed to fall over about a hundred times. We therefore renamed this fell 'Joe Fell'. We came back down by the east ridge which ends in a steep descent through bracken near to Raven Crags. We returned to the Mill Inn via the church of St.Kentigern.
