09 07 2007 - Whiteside, Hopegill Head, Sand Hill and Ladyside Pike with Paul D

It was nearly 3 months since our last lake district walk and fortunately we found a dry day for it following the recent heavy downpours. We parked at Lanthwaite Green and started the walk with the steep climb over Whin Ben onto Whiteside. Although there were extensive clouds they kept well above the fell tops and visibility was pretty good. We even got some sunshine. From Whiteside we followed the path as it climbs up to Hopegill Head's summit and then detoured briefly onto Sand Hill before returning to Hopegill Head and descending via Ladyside Pike. Looking back to Hopegill Head the path from the summit looks impossibly steep - perhaps the camera does sometimes lie a little.
