21 03 2007 - Branstree, High Howes and Selside Pike |

|
||
I started from Mardale Head and climbed up to Gatescarth Pass before heading over Branstree to High Howes and Selside Pike. I descended via the Old Corpse Road. It was a superb day with excellent weather and almost perfect visibility. There was sunshine throughout the walk and no wind. Although the tops were frozen it didn't feel cold and the snow gave added drama to the views. There was a powerful feeling of calm and peacefulness. High Howes isn't named on OS maps but at 2208ft is Higher than Selside Pike's 2149ft. |
