02 05 2006 - Walk and photos - Carrock Fell and High Pike with Joe.
|
Walk first completed 05 04 2002 with Richard. We followed the footpath west from Carrock Fell, passing Round Knott and then Minton Hill before rising up to the top of High Pike. The summit is furnished with a large cairn, a trig point and a strong slate seat where the weary wanderer can rest tired feet. After recovering some strength we dropped down in a generally south westerly direction before climbing again to Great Lingy Hill. This part of the walk felt like a bit of a trudge with the ground underfoot grassy and boggy. We then detoured to Little Sca Fell and Great Sca Fell before ascending Knott. We descended over Coomb Height and followed the river Caldew back to our starting point.
