The Lake District Mountains |
Walk completed 18/08/2000 with Richard. We started from the car park behind the youth hostel at Honister Pass, following the steep route of the old tramway up to the ruins of the Drum House. It was hard work on a warm day. On reaching the Drum House we continued for a distance before finding a path across the fell and up to the summit ridge. The summit has excellent views in all directions particularly over Buttermere. We returned by following the summit ridge along the top of Honister Crag and past some old disused quarries as we dropped down to Bell Crags. The path then descends straight down to the Honister Slate Mine and the youth hostel. |
